Under the Hood with Hibi | Episode 3: Skim Speeders
Episode 3 is the one I was waiting for. The skim speeder is a brand-new vehicle class in the Star Wars galaxy, and it makes its debut in Galactic Racer.
Not as agile as a speeder bike, not as resilient as a landspeeder, but once it builds momentum it is the fastest thing on the circuit. Skim speeders reward flowing lines: banking through corners, knife-edging through narrow gaps, never giving up speed you worked for.
A new vehicle class in Star Wars is not a small thing. It has to look like it was built somewhere in this galaxy, by someone, for a reason, and it has to sit alongside sixty years of design that fans know by heart. The skim speeder went through exactly that process with Fuse and Lucasfilm, and I think it earns its place.
One episode left. Three and a half weeks to launch.
