Guinness World Records 2011

Posted on January 3, 2011

We made the Guinness Book of World Records for Monkey Island 2: SE's audio commentary!  Pretty cool even if, admittedly, they hand out a lot of these "records".  Seems we also won for "Longest wait for a sequel to a point-and-click game (8 years and 242 days between Escape from Monkey Island in 2000 and Tales of Monkey Island in 2009) and also for "Longest-running graphic adventure protagonist" (19 years and 54 days, if you're interested.)  Still, it's the Guinness Book of World Records which my mom has heard of and validates this weird career of mine.  Now what drink should we get to toast the team...?

Oscar Party

Posted on February 26, 2007

I Love Goooold!

Last night at the 79th Academy Awards the Oscar for Best Visual Effects for "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" was given to John Knoll, Hal Hickel, Charles Gibson and Allen Hall of ILM.

To mark this incredible accomplishment the folks at Lucasfilm arranged to have as many of the previously won Oscars, BAFTA's and Lifetime Achievement awards gathered for a once-in-a-lifetime celebration at the Presidio.  The only thing more brilliant than the awards themselves was the sheer talent in the room.  Luminaries past and present were on hand to celebrate and they extended the honor to each of us to hold and pose with these incredible awards.

I'll admit, I was pretty freaked out by even touching an Oscar let alone holding it.  I hope one day I'll have another chance to do so and maybe bring one back here for the collection.
